Lila Kate Wheeler attended her first Insight Meditation retreat in 1977. She was a Buddhist nun in Rangoon, Burma, and at IMS—the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, MA. She has practiced in several Buddhist traditions and recently co-led the 2016-2020 teacher training at Spirit Rock Meditation Center in Woodacre, CA, where she remains a member of the Teachers’ Council. Writing as “Kate Wheeler,” she has been granted prizes and awards for her fiction and journalism. She edited two books by her Burmese teacher, the late Sayadaw U Pandita. Lila lives in Somerville, MA.
